Windsor is perhaps best known for its castle, official royal residence and over 900 years old. To the south of the castle is Windsor Great Park, which extends over 5000 acres (2000 hectares) and includes Virginia Water Lake. On the west side of the castle is the town of Windsor. From the statue of Queen Victoria it's possible to follow the castle walls downhill to the River Thames and cross into Eton.

Around 3 miles / 5km south-east of Windsor, between Egham and Englefield Green, is Coopers Hill, Runnymede. At the top of the hill (approached from Englefield Green) is the Airforce memorial. At the foot of the hill are two further memorials:
